Marie of Lorraine

Maria of Lorraine (born August 12, 1674 in Paris , † October 30, 1724 in Monaco ) was Princess of Monaco.

She was the ninth of fourteen children Louis de Lorraine (1641-1718), Count of Armagnac , Charny and Brionne from the House of Guise , Grand Equestrian of France , and his wife Catherine de Neufville, a daughter of the French Marshal Nicolas de Neufville, Duke Born by Villeroy .

On June 13, 1688, she married Prince Antoine I of Monaco in Paris . The marriage had been arranged by the French King Louis XIV on June 13, 1688 in Versailles ; he was also present at the wedding.

The couple had six daughters:

  3. Elisabeth Charlotte Grimaldi, Mademoiselle von Valentinois (1698–1702)
  4. Marguerite Camille Grimaldi, Mademoiselle von Carladès (1700–1758), ∞ Louis de Gand-Vilain, Prince of Isenghien (1678–1767)
  5. Marie Dévote Grimaldi, Mademoiselle von Baux (1702–1703)
  6. Marie Pelline Dévote Grimaldi, Mademoiselle of Chabeuil (1708–1726)

Princess Maria died in 1724 and was buried in Monaco Cathedral.
