Mariam El-Masri (born June 20, 1991 in Scarborough , Ontario ) is a Canadian soccer player of Tunisian-Guyanese origin.
Life
Mariam El-Masri was the daughter of a Tunisian father and a mother from Guyana in the Canadian Scarborough in the province of Ontario born. Her two older brothers also play football actively. Mariam's eldest brother, Sherif El-Masri , has played in Singapore since 2009 and is a former Canadian U-23 national soccer player. She attended the Wexford Collegiate Institute from 2005 to 2008 and then the Centennial Collegiate from 2010 to 2012 . The eldest brother Selim was an active water polo player between 2001 and 2008 before he also played active football in the Kitchener and District Soccer League in Waterloo, Ontario in 2008 .
Football career

El-Masri began playing football with the Wexford Jaguars at the age of four. During the winter break of 2010, she decided to move to the Ontario Women Soccer Indoor League and played for the GS United Soccer Club. She then enrolled at Centennial College in Toronto in the fall of 2011 and played for their Centennial Colts Women's Soccer Team. During this time, El-Masri played two years in the semester break for the Ontario Women Soccer League club Gursikh Sabha United, where she was able to secure the OWSL championship title in the 2012 season. In March 2013 she moved to Denmark and played a few reserve games for BK 1921 Nykøbing Falster with a special game permit. She developed into a top performer during the test phase and scored her first goal against BK Skjold's reserve at the end of March. This good performance brought the Guyanese national soccer player her first professional contract in the Danish 1st division on April 5, 2013 for the senior team of the Boldklubben 1921 Nykøbing Falster . She returned to Canada in the summer of 2014 and has since been a member of the Seneca Stings Women Soccer Team, Seneca College 's Athletic Team , where she was appointed to the OCAA Women's Soccer League All-Stars in the fall.
National team
El-Masri has been an international for Guyana since 2010 and has so far played in ten official FIFA international matches for the Guyanese national football team .
