Marian Sutton
Marian Sutton (born October 7, 1963 in Wanstead ) is an English long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon .
She celebrated her greatest successes at the Chicago Marathon , in which she won in 1996 and 1997 and in 1999 she set her personal best of 2:28:42 in seventh place. In 1997 she finished second in the Great North Run in 1:09:41, making her the sixth fastest British female runner over the half marathon distance to this day (as of December 2008) .
In the marathon of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , she finished 26th, with a torn calf muscle a few kilometers from the finish . Due to this injury, she was only able to contest a marathon again in early 2002. With a win at the Austin (Texas) Marathon , she qualified for the 2002 Commonwealth Games , where she was eighth.
