history
The current municipality of Isulan used to belong to the municipalities of Koronadal, now Koronadal City and Dulawan. The municipality of Koronadal was founded with Executive Order No. 82 on August 8, 1947 by President Manuel Roxas .
On March 10, 1953, the parishes of Norala and Cotabato were established by Executive Order No. 572, for which Koronadal remained responsible. With Executive Order No. 266, the Isulan community was detached from Norala, Cotabato and Dulawan on August 30, 1957 by President Carlos P. Garcia and made an independent administrative community.
The municipal administration was officially opened on September 12, 1957, with Datu Suma Ampatuan as the first mayor, who remained in office until 1967.
On June 21, 1969, President Ferdinand Marcos signed Republic Act No. 5960, which separated the Bagumbayan community from Isulan. This cost the community 85% of its original area. Of 48 barrios, today's 17 remained.
When on November 22, 1973 the Presidental Degree No. 341 divided the province of Cotabato into the provinces of Sultan Kudarat , Maguindanao and North Cotabato , the municipality of Isulan was designated as the seat of the provincial administration.
