Marian Zimałek

Marian Kazimierz Zimałek (born May 9, 1931 in Maków, Poland ; † November 12, 2008 in Sandomierz , Poland) was the Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Sandomierz .

Life

Marian Kazimierz Zimałek entered the Sandomierz Seminary in 1948. He was ordained a priest on May 29, 1955 for the then diocese of Sandomierz-Radom in the Cathedral of Sandomierz by Bishop Jan Kanty Lorek . He then studied Canon Law and in 1959 at the Catholic University of Lublin to Dr. iur. can. PhD . He initially worked for the episcopal prefecture, later director of the pastoral department. In 1972 he became professor at the seminary in Sandomierz, from 1973 Subregens and from 1976 Regens .

In 1987 he was appointed titular bishop of Isola by Pope John Paul II and appointed auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Sandomierz-Radom. The episcopal ordination received his Warsaw Archbishop Jozef Cardinal Glemp on May 8, 1987. co-consecrators were Edward Henryk Materski , Bishop of Sandomierz, and Piotr Hemperek , auxiliary bishop in Lublin. His motto was Spem alere . In 1992 he also became Vicar General of the Diocese, from March 25 to April 28, 1992 he was Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Sandomierz.

Benedict XVI accepted his age-related resignation . on December 29, 2007. Zimałek died in November 2008 after a long illness.
