Marianne Lundquist

Marianne Lundquist , married Grane (born June 24, 1931 in Karlskoga ; † April 10, 2020 in Stockholm ), was a Swedish swimmer.

Life

Lundquist was born in Karlskoga parish in 1931 . In 1948 she was a member of the Swedish delegation at the Summer Olympics in London and competed in swimming competitions in the 100 m freestyle and the 4 × 100 m freestyle. Four years later at the Summer Olympics in Helsinki she was again part of the Swedish delegation . This time she competed in the swimming competitions in the 100 m freestyle, in the 400 m freestyle and in the 4 × 100 m freestyle.

She later retired from active swimming and worked as a primary school teacher. Towards the end of her professional career, she devoted herself again to swimming. In 1992 she won a gold medal at the World Masters Championships in Indianapolis .

Since 1955 she was married to the sports educator Kjell Grane . Several children were born from the marriage. Most recently, the two lived in a nursing home in Stockholm. During the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden, the two fell ill with SARS-CoV-2 and died one after the other eight days apart.
