Marie-Gabriel-Augustin Savard (born August 21, 1814 in Paris ; † June 7, 1881 ibid) was a French music teacher and composer.

Savard studied at the Paris Conservatory with François Bazin and Simon Leborne . After completing his studies, he taught there from 1843 solfège, harmony and double bass. From 1866 he was a professor for double bass. His students include his son Augustin Savard , Cécile Chaminade , Eduard Reuss (1851–1911), Charles Lenepveu and Edward MacDowell ; his best known student was Jules Massenet .

Savard published a textbook on harmony: Cours complet d'harmonie théoretique et pratique (Paris 1863), which he added to the two-volume Etudes d'harmonie pratique . In 1865 the newly edited Principes de la musique et méthode de transposition appeared .
