Marie-Luise Nikuta was 13 years old when she sang her first hit with the Cologne Children's Choir: Mer fiere Fastelovend . After training as an insurance saleswoman and the birth of a daughter, she devoted herself to her professional music career from 1968. Until her death, however, she continued to compose and text the motto songs of the Cologne Carnival, which were initially performed by Carolin Krause from 2015/2016 accompanied by the St. Stephan Youth Choir.
