life and work

Marie-Nancy Vuille was the daughter of the wealthy brewer Louis Vuille and Adèle, née Ladé.

Vuille attended literary lectures at the University of Geneva in 1886 with Eduard Rod , with whom she fell in love. Since their love remained unfulfilled, this inevitably became a "love of literature". However, Rod supported Vuille's writing activity. So she processed her unfulfilled wishes regarding Rod in her three novels and wrote the books The Course of Things (1895), Resistance (1898) and The Useless Sacrifice (1901) under her pseudonym André Gladès .

Marie-Nancy Vuille died of heart failure. Leonardo Bistolfi created the grave relief for Vuille .
