Marie Augustin Jean Doulcet (born August 5, 1865 - † February 28, 1928 in Rome ) was a French diplomat .

Life

Jean Doulcet was the son of Pauline West and Jules Doulcet. He joined the French Foreign Ministry in 1887 . From June 28, 1893 to 1907, he was legation secretary in London . Until 1912 he was the legation secretary in Lisbon and Madrid . In 1912 he was Ministre plénipotentiaire in Saint Petersburg . From November 1918 to April 1919 he was an Allied High Commissioner in Budapest , where the Federal Hungarian Socialist Council Republic was proclaimed on March 21, 1919 . He was then from April 1919 to 1920 Ministre plénipotentiaire in Christiania , Norway . From March 21, 1920 he negotiated the reopening of the embassy with the Holy See . From 1921 to 1923 he was Chargé d'affaires in Budapest. From 1923 until his death he was ambassador to the Holy See.
