Marie Marguerite Cécile Alice Louise Daveluy (born March 20, 1936 in Victoriaville ) is a Canadian singer (soprano) and music teacher.

biography

The sister of the organist and composer Raymond Daveluy studied from 1956 to 1959 in Vienna with Ferdinand Grossmann and Viktor Graef . She made her debut in 1959 at the opera of the Salzburger Landestheater as Zerbinetta in Richard Strauss ' Ariadne auf Naxos and then belonged to the company ensemble for two years. From 1961 to 1966 she was engaged at the Heidelberg Opera, where she sang more than thirty roles in operas by Mozart (including the Queen of the Night, Susanna, Zerlina, Despina and Constanza), Verdi (Gilda, Anna), Flotow (Martha) and other. In addition, she continued her vocal training in Munich with Henny Schöner and Peter Schneider .

In Quebec she sang at the Théâtre lyrique de Nouvelle-France and appeared as a concert singer with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra , the CBC Montreal Chamber Orchestra and the Concerts Couperin . From 1972 to 1977 she organized the Musique vivante concert series in Trois-Rivières. She taught singing from 1971 to 1984 at the University of Québec and from 1973 to 1981 and from 1984 at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec (CMM). She recorded eleven songs by Jean Chatillon (1974) with the pianist Diane Mauger and songs by Rodolphe Mathieu and his Deux Poèmes with the Classical Quartet of Montreal (1977) for the album Musique québécoise 'nos compositeurs . Her son is the ballet dancer and choreographer René Daveluy .
