Marie Dumesnil
Marie Françoise Dumesnil , actually Marie Françoise Marchand (born January 2, 1713 in Paris , † February 20, 1803 in Boulogne-sur-Mer ) was a French actress.
Marie Dumesnil was the daughter of a wealthy nobleman and first moved around the provinces with wandering groups of actors, where she played roles in the light genre. In 1737 she made her debut as Klytämnestra at the Théâtre français in Paris with great success and since then has only appeared in highly tragic roles such as Medea , Merope, Cleopatra , Athalia, Semiramis , Agrippina etc., for which she was excellently disposed.
She became societaire of the theater mentioned after a year, retired from the stage in 1776 and died at the age of 90 on February 20, 1803 in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
