Marie Ondříčková

Marie Ondříčková (born December 1, 1870 in Prague ( Lesser Town ), † May 3, 1957 in Prague) was a Czech violinist, pianist and music teacher.

Ondříčková was the daughter of the conductor and violinist Jan Ondříček and the sister of František , Emanuel and Stanislav , who in turn became known as violinists. She received violin and piano lessons from Ludmila Houšková. She then helped her father and continued his school after his death in March 1900.

Ondříčková accompanied Otakar Ševčík to his "foreign colony" in Prachatice . In 1902 she married Ševčík's assistant Antonín Mack. When he died in 1906, she went to her brother Karel in the United States and worked in New York. There she became known as a teacher for piano and violin and promoted Czech music. Ondříčková married the pianist and journalist Karel Leitner in 1907.

After the Second World War , the couple returned to their homeland in Prague, where Ondříčková taught piano until her sudden death on May 3, 1957.
