Marie Theresia of Austria (1845–1927)
Maria Theresia Anna (born July 15, 1845 in Vienna ; † October 8, 1927 in Tübingen ) was a member of the Austrian ruling house Habsburg-Lothringen .
Life
Maria Theresa was a daughter of Archduke Albrecht Friedrich of Austria and Princess Hildegard Luise of Bavaria and therefore carried the title Archduchess of Austria.
At the age of 20, she married the 27-year-old Duke Philipp von Württemberg (1838-1917), son of Duke Alexander Friedrich Wilhelm von Württemberg and Marie Christine , Princess of Orléans, in the chamber chapel of the Vienna Hofburg on January 18, 1865 in Vienna. The couple had a palace built on the Ringstrasse in Vienna and moved into it in 1866. Five years later, the Palais Württemberg was sold and opened as the Hotel Imperial for the 1873 World's Fair . The couple then acquired the Strudelhof of the painter Peter Strudel in Vienna as their residence in Vienna.
On the banks of the Traunsee near Altmünster, they had a villa built which was named after the Duchess "Villa Marie Therese", today's name Schloss Traunsee .
In 1907, Duchess Maria Theresia and her husband moved to Stuttgart. After the death of her husband, she moved in with her son in Altshausen Castle . She died on October 8, 1927 after 10 years of widowhood at the age of 82 in Tübingen and was buried in the crypt of the castle church Altshausen .
