Mariela González

Mariela González ( Mariela González Torres; born April 5, 1974 ) is a Cuban long-distance runner .

In 1999 she was eighth over 10,000 m at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg . The following year she finished fourth in the Madrid Marathon .

In 2001 she won the Madrid Marathon and the Half Marathon of the Central American and Caribbean Athletics Championships in the half marathon and came in 51st place at the World Half Marathon Championships in Bristol . The following year she defended her title in Madrid.

In 2003 she won the marathon of the Cuban National Games and took silver in the marathon at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo . In 2004 she won the marathon again at the Cuban National Games and came in 59th at the Olympic Games in Athens .

In 2005 she won silver over 10,000 m at the Central America and Caribbean Championships. In 2006 she won the national games in the 20 km road run and did not reach the goal in the marathon of the Central America and Caribbean Games .

In 2007 she won the Medio Maratón Aniversario del INDER, the Villa Clara Marathon and the Pan American Games marathon in Rio de Janeiro .

In the Marabana she won ten times in the half marathon competition (1994, 1997-2003, 2005, 2006) and once in the marathon competition (2007).
