Marielle Heller (born October 1, 1979 ) is an American actress , screenwriter and director .

Life

Heller studied theater at the University of California, Los Angeles and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London . She is married to Jorma Taccone and lives in New York .

She wrote scripts for pilot films for ABC and 20th Century Fox , as well as plays. She has performed in Los Angeles , New York and the West End in London , among others . Her first feature film The Diary of a Teenage Girl was shown for the first time in 2015 at the Sundance Film Festival and at the Berlin International Film Festival . For the film she was awarded the Grand Prize in the Generation 14plus category at the Berlinale .
