Marietta Himmelbaur
Marietta Himmelbaur , b. Brunetti (born May 9, 1858 in Porto Ré in Croatia ; † May 4, 1934 Techendorf am Weißensee ) was a Croatian-Austrian educator and school founder.
Himmelbauer graduated from the teacher training college in Graz . Particularly interested in questions of women's education , she worked intensively on setting up the “Self-Help” association. As president of the association, she redesigned its handicraft school in Vienna , which was one of the oldest technical schools in the capital. She became the head of this school and succeeded in taking over the institution by the City of Vienna. After 25 years of service, she retired in 1934.
In 1885 Marietta Brunetti married the popular educator Isidor Himmelbaur , who later became head of the Graz University Library. She is the mother of the botanist Wolfgang Himmelbaur .
