Marija Auersperg Attems
Marija Rozalija Auersperg Attems (born April 10, 1816 in Graz , † March 25, 1880 there ) was a flower painter.
She came from the noble Attems family as the daughter of Count Ignaz Attems and Alojzija nee. Inzaghi.
In 1839 she married the politician and poet Anton Alexander Graf von Auersperg, known as Anastasius Grün . They lived in Vienna, Graz and in Thurn am Hart Castle (Šrajbarski Turn) in Lower Carniola and Dornau Castle in Slovenia . In 1859 Marija gave birth to their son Teodor († 1881).
As a wife and countess, she could only study painting privately with Viennese flower painters. a. with Sebastian Wegmayr (1776–1857), a student of the flower painter Johann Baptist Drechsler, and with Franz Xaver Petter . The influence of Cornelis Johannes van Hulsteijn is also noticeable in her works .
Marija Auersperg Attems painted small-format flower still lifes and interiors. In the last years of her life she also used photographic templates. She also dealt with the design of her palace gardens.
