Dornava ( German : Dornau ) is a village and municipality with a well-known baroque castle in northeastern Slovenia . It is located in the historical Spodnja Štajerska ( Lower Styria ) region and in the statistical region of Podravska .

Dornava is located on the right bank of the Pesnica ( Pößnitz ) at the exit of the valley before it merges into the Drautal . In addition to the main town of the municipality, the town of Mezgovci ob Pesnici is on the flat right bank, all other towns are on the left side of the river in the hilly Slovenske gorice ( Windische Bühel ).

The next bigger cities are Ptuj about 6 km west and Maribor about 23 km northwest.

The closest connection to the Slovenian motorway network is "Draženci" on the A4 motorway in 10 kilometers by road.

Dornava is located on the railway line from Pragersko to Središče , but there is no train station in the municipality. The next train stop is in neighboring Moškanjci approx. 2.5 km from the village center, the next intercity train station in Ptuj .
