history

Rače Castle

In Roman times , a water pipeline was in operation from Fram to Ptuj , then Petovio. The canal was made of stone and was 1.4 m wide, 0.7 m high and dug under the surface and not visible. Important Roman coins and statues were also found in Rače.

From the castle in Fram, first mentioned in 1335 as Vraunhaym , nothing can be seen today except rubble in the forest. In 1635 it was robbed by insurgent peasants. It burned down in the 18th century until it finally collapsed at the beginning of the 19th century.

In contrast, the castle in Rače stands in full splendor. It was built in the first half of the 16th century. The first deed of ownership was issued on April 26, 1534. Today the castle is used by the local government. Concerts and theater also take place in the courtyard.
