Trnovska vas ( German : Ternovetzdorf ) is a village and municipality in northeastern Slovenia . It is located in the historical Spodnja Štajerska ( Lower Styria ) region and in the statistical region of Podravska .

The municipality Trnovska vas can be divided into two halves: the north-eastern half, which also includes the main town, located in the valley of the River Pesnica ( Pößnitz ), while the southwestern the undulating hills of Slovenske gorice ( Windische Buehel ) is to be allocated. In general, however, the entire region is referred to as Slovenske gorice .

The next larger towns are the small town of Lenart about 7.5 km north, the town of Ptuj about 11 km south and the town of Maribor about 19 km west.

The municipality comprises seven localities. The German exonyms in brackets date from the middle of the 19th century and are no longer used today. (Population figures as of January 1, 2017):

history

Trnovska vas was incorporated into the Ptuj municipality until 1995 . Then she formed her own community with Destrnik . As early as 1997 this municipality was split up again. Trnovska vas has been independent since then.

Attractions

The Simonic Homestead farm is over 200 years old in the Trnovo district . There are very few of this type of farmhouse left in Slovenia.
