Starše ( German : Altendorf in der Steiermark ) is a village and municipality in Slovenia . It is located in the historical Spodnja Štajerska ( Lower Styria ) region and in the statistical region of Podravska .

location

Starše lies completely in the flat "Dravsko polje" ( Draufeld ) at about 238 m. The Drava itself flows north of the main town. In addition, the canal of the Zlatoličje hydroelectric power station ( Slovak : Prekop HE Zlatoličje ) flows through the area. The municipality is about halfway between Maribor and Ptuj .

Community structure

The municipality includes 8 localities. The German exonyms in brackets were mainly used by the German-speaking population until the area was ceded to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in 1918 and are largely uncommon today. (Population figures as of January 1, 2017):

history

35 BC The Romans lived in what is now the municipality. Part of a temple from the region is in the museum in Maribor. Starše used to belong to Ptuj, then it came to Maribor and Tezno. Since the independence from Slovenia it has been an independent municipality.

traffic

The A4 motorway runs through the Starše municipality . It is also directly connected to it via the junctions "Marjeta na Dravskem polju" and "Zlatoličje", both of which are located in the municipality. There is no connection to the Slovenian railway network. The nearest intercity train stations are Maribor (15 km away), Pragersko (16.5 km) and Ptuj (13.5 km).
