Juršinci ( German : Jurschinzen ) is a village and municipality in northeastern Slovenia . It is located in the historical Spodnja Štajerska ( Lower Styria ) region and in the statistical region of Podravska .

location
Juršinci is mostly in the Slovenske gorice ( Windische Bühel ) and goes in the west into the valley of the Pesnica ( Pößnitz ).
The closest larger cities are Ptuj, 10 km southwest, and Maribor, 26 km northwest .

history
The village was first mentioned in 1320 under the name Georgendorff . The Slovenian name was derived from this name, Jurij is the Slavic variant of the first name Georg . Juršinci has been handed down in writing since 1409. The parish church of St. Lorenz is first mentioned in 1322. In the 16th century the church was rebuilt in Gothic style between 1517 and 1540 . In the interior there is an important Way of the Cross by Slavko Pengov .
The municipality was formed in 1995 from parts of the municipality of Ptuj .
economy
Juršinci is a predominantly agricultural community. Mainly the farmers in the area cultivate wine and fruit .
