The place was officially called Videm ob Ščavnici until 1997 . Curiously, the name was changed due to a misunderstanding. In 1948, during the Republic of Yugoslavia , a law on the designation of settlements, squares, streets and buildings came into force. Among other things, this envisaged removing religious components of the name from the localities mentioned. Assuming that this also happened to Videm , the parish and its main town were given the name of their parish Sveti Jurij . In fact, the name Videm has been documented since 1680.
