Križevci ( German : Kreuzdorf bei Luttenberg ) is a town and municipality in northeastern Slovenia . It is located in the historical Spodnja Štajerska ( Lower Styria ) region, but is now part of the Pomurska statistical region .

location
Križevci is located in the Prlekija region in the area where the Ščavnica ( Stainz ) valley joins that of the Mur . The plain in this area is called Mursko polje ( Murfeld ) and is known for its lakes. The Gajševsko jezero , which dams the Ščavnica in the south of the municipality, is one of the larger. The main town Križevci pri Ljutomeru is located at 185 m. ü. A. , there is no noteworthy survey in the municipality.
Community structure
The municipality comprises 16 localities. The German exonyms in brackets were mainly used by the German-speaking population until the area was ceded to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in 1918 and are largely uncommon today. (Population figures as of January 1, 2017):

history
There were many finds from the Hallstatt period in the area around Križevci . The present congregation was only founded in 1998. Until then it was part of the Ljutomer municipality .
The community is also known for its horse breeding and traditional horse racing.
