Cornelis Johannes van Hulsteijn

Cornelis Johannes van Hulsteijn (born August 19, 1811 in Jutphaas (now Nieuwegein ), † February 3, 1887 in Celje ( Slovenia , then Austria-Hungary )) was a Dutch flower painter, watercolorist and draftsman. Some sources put the birthday on August 10 or 13, 1811 and the date of death on February 3, 1879.

Hulsteijn learned to paint flowers in the early 1830s. He worked in Delft , Utrecht and Houten from 1835 and again in Utrecht from 1848. He later came to Austria-Hungary and settled in Trieste in 1848 .

As an art collector, Hulstijn bought at least ten pictures between 1861 and 1863, including by Johannes Bosboom and Charles Henri Joseph Leickert .

He was mentioned by the Dutch writer Johannes Immerzeel the Younger (1776–1841).
