Marijana Zovko (born June 16, 1972 in Laupheim , Germany ) is a German-Croatian Christian musician and composer .

Life

Marijana Zovko was born in Laupheim in Upper Swabia, where she still lives today with her husband and son. Her parents come from the Slavonian town of Vrbova . Zovko completed intermediate medical training and had worked in this field for several years. For health reasons, she quit her job and from then on took care of her son's upbringing.

Zovko began singing in the church choir at an early age . Her religious-Christian spirituality was also shaped by the prayer of the rosary . Zovko began to compose Christian songs that she entrusted to her parish priest. He recommended Zovko to take part in a Christian music festival, which was performed in the Zagreb concert hall Vatroslav Lisinski in 1992. Participating there, Zovko performed her composed song “ Neka svijeća gori ” / “ Let the candle burn ”, which should also be understood as a peace song at the time of the Croatian war . In 1993 Zovko took part in the music festival " Crofest ", which was performed in the Dom sportova .

Then Zovko released her first album entitled " Let the candle burn ". Appearances in the Roman Catholic parishes of the Croatian pastoral care in Germany followed . Another album was released under the title " Sretan dan, o, Gospode " / " Happy Day, oh, Lord ". This was followed by international musical appearances in 1994, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2009, also in the parish church of Međugorje . In Germany, Marijana Zovko took part musically in the literature festival of the SWR in 2001 and 2003 , mostly presenting her musical works nationwide in Roman Catholic parishes.
