Marije Kos' career spanned just one calendar year. In January 2001 she started winning the Dutch championship in Winterberg . In the same month she made her international debut in the European Skeleton Cup on the artificial ice rink at Königssee , where she finished 15th. In the summer, she finished second behind Dany Locati in the traditional start-up competition in Groningen . At the beginning of the 2001/02 season she took part in three other European Cup races and finished 18th in Winterberg and two 14th places in Igls and Altenberg .
