Marika Tasler
Marika Tasler (born April 28, 1975 in Leningrad ) is an artist, graphic designer, photographer and co-inventor of the Shape CD and founder of the Pikosso Records record company.
She developed the Shape CD together with Mario Koss in 1994 . The world's first Shape CD was first released on April 1st, 1995. The hand-made compact disc formed the basis for a start-up company that has sold around 75 million Shape CDs. Since then she has developed around 1,500 designs, which have been produced for Madonna , Michael Jackson , David Bowie , Backstreet Boys and large corporations such as IBM , Microsoft , Burger King and Deutsche Bank , among others .
Life
After completing her school education, she first worked as a graphic designer for various music labels from 1993, then for classic advertising agencies. Later as art director for media agencies with a focus as a designer, she was responsible for the planning and implementation of projects in the fields of multimedia, classic advertising, web design and photography.
In 1993 Marika Tasler founded the record label Pikosso Records in collaboration with Mario Koss. Due to the poor presence of sound carriers in the flood of CD releases, the idea of compact discs in various forms, the shape CD, arose. The basis was a handcrafted CD that was processed with a fretsaw.
This was followed by collaborations with artists and projects with international companies such as Burger King, IBM, Shell and Bertelsmann. The idea was further developed with additional functions, which resulted in the ChipDisc. This CD in the form of a credit card is also equipped with a microchip. The patent rights were sold in 1998 for several million marks.
In 1999 she founded an advertising agency that deals, among other things, with the development and marketing of innovative products. Marika Tasler has mainly worked in the field of sports marketing for Bayern Munich , Borussia Dortmund , FC Barcelona and Benfica Lisbon .
Tasler has been involved in planning, organizing and realizing the Berlin Press Ball since 2016 . She currently works as Art Director at Potsdam TV .
