Marilena Neacșu

Marilena Neacșu (born August 14, 1961 in Sibiu ) is a former Romanian artistic gymnast .

She was a member of the Romanian national team from 1975. 1976 Neacșu was a substitute member of the Romanian gymnastics team for the Olympic Games , but was not used in Montreal. At the European Gymnastics Championships in 1977 Neacșu reached tenth place in the all-around competition.

She achieved her greatest success in 1978. At the World Championships in Strasbourg Neacșu won the silver medal in the team standings behind the Soviet Union with Nadia Comăneci , Emilia Eberle , Teodora Ungureanu , Anca Grigoraș and Marilena Vlădărău . In the individual all-around she was 18. After that she took part in international tournaments until 1980 and then ended her career.

In the 1990s Neacșu emigrated to Canada and became a trainer.
