Marilena Widmer (born August 7, 1997 in Aargau ) is a Swiss football player .
Career
societies
Widmer began her career with FC Gränichen at the age of nine and then played for FC Entfelden and FC Langenthal before moving to the A-youth team of BSC Young Boys one season later . In Bern, she was promoted to the senior team one season later, at the age of 17, and was on the bench for the first time on March 1, 2014. This was followed in the follow-up season 2014/2015 on August 6, 2014, her debut for the BSC Young Boys Women in a 0-0 against Yverdon Féminin. She played 49 league games in four seasons and scored five goals before signing a two-year contract with the German women's Bundesliga club 1. FFC Frankfurt on May 17, 2018 . Together with her, the national team colleague Géraldine Reuteler from FC Luzern Frauen came to Frankfurt am Main . After the 2018/2019 season, she left 1. FFC Frankfurt and returned to BSC Young Boys, after having only started two games at FFC Frankfurt.
National team
Widmer played for the Swiss U-16, U-17 and U-19 teams. With the U-19, she made it to the semi-finals of the 2016 European Championship in Slovakia. There they lost against the eventual European champions France 1: 3. On September 1, 2017, Widmer was appointed for the first time by Martina Voss-Tecklenburg for the senior national team of Switzerland . She made her debut for Switzerland on October 22, 2017 in the friendly against Japan . She finished fourth with her team at the Cyprus Cup 2018 and took part in the Algarve Cup 2019 .

Widmer successfully graduated from the Feusi Education Center in June 2016 .
