The Feusi Training Center AG is a Swiss Education Group privately held with school locations in Bern , Muri-Gümligen and Solothurn . Founded in 1952 as a private secondary school in Bern by the married couple Anton and Lilly Feusi, today it offers a comprehensive range from daycare to technical college degrees . The private school, which is particularly "renowned in the Bern area", also offers one of the largest sports schools in Switzerland. Such a breadth is unusual for private schools in Switzerland.

history

Established in 1952

Anton and Lilly Feusi laid the foundation stone for today's Feusi Education Center on April 1, 1952. The childless couple previously worked as teachers at the Humboldtianum . With the opening of their own private school, the math teacher and Dr. phil. II self-employed. The school initially consisted of a secondary and a grammar school section, but was soon expanded to include technical college preparation courses. In 1958 the Bern evening grammar school was added, which enabled young professionals to take a second education to study at university .

Takeover by Edwin Granelli and Fred Haenssler in 1964

In 1964, the two teachers Edwin Granelli and Fred Haenssler, who had previously been employed by the Feusi couple, took over the school. The purchase was financed in the form of a lifelong pension for the Feusi couple. Edwin Granelli headed the secondary school until 1975 , then was a member of the board of directors and responsible for real estate. Fred Haenssler took over the management of the grammar school until 1975 and later that of the entire company.

Relocation to Alpeneggstrasse in 1975

The goal of being able to offer all training courses under one roof motivated Edwin Granelli and Fred Haenssler to look for a plot of land and to build a new school building there under their own management. After a one-year construction phase, the school with its then around 1000 students gradually moved into the new building on Alpeneggstrasse from March 1975. This location represented the first centralization of the Feusi training center near the train station.

Additional location in Solothurn (from 1989)

In 1989 Feusi was able to take over the most important private school in Solothurn , the Institut Jura , from the Rosetti family. It was continued at the existing location and the supply side was continuously expanded. Today the Feusi Education Center Solothurn at Sandmattstrasse 1 offers a range from the 10th school year to HF courses .

Foundation of a private university in 1997

When the cantonal universities of applied sciences were founded, the Feusi management recognized the potential of being present on this market with a private offer. In 1997, what was then the only private university with federal FH recognition was born: the Private University of Economics PHW Bern .

Takeover by Sandra von May-Granelli (2002)

On January 1, 2002, Sandra von May -Granelli, daughter of the previous co-owner Edwin Granelli, took over the shares in Feusi Holding AG from her own family as well as the share package from the Haenssler family as part of the succession plan . At the same time, she also took over the operational management of Feusi.

Offers for preschool age (from 2007)

With the takeover of Preschool Da Vinci in 2007, Feusi's range was expanded to include the preschool sector. In 2012, the Feusi Education Center finally became completely universal: At the then new location at Jubiläumsstrasse 93/95 in the Kirchenfeld district , a kindergarten and the basic level of primary school were now offered in addition to a daycare center and preschool. On the 60th anniversary of Feusi in 2012, the then Education Director and District President Bernhard Pulver congratulated Feusi on having become "one of the most important private educational institutions in Switzerland". In the summer of 2017, the daycare, preschool, kindergarten and primary school areas moved to Mattenstrasse 2 at Gümligen train station.
