Marilyn Nash (born October 26, 1926 in Detroit , Michigan , † October 7, 2011 in Oroville , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Marilyn Nash, born in Detroit in 1926, began studying medicine at the University of Arizona after finishing school . During a visit to Los Angeles after the end of World War II , she met Charlie Chaplin , who signed her with a weekly salary of 50 US dollars . She made her acting debut in 1947 in Chaplin's comedy Monsieur Verdoux - The Woman Killer of Paris , for which she received a weekly salary of 200 US dollars. In the film, she played an important supporting role as a street girl. In 1951 she had her second and last film appearance in the science fiction film Unknown World by Terry O. Morse . After she had only two appearances in the television series Hopalong Cassidy (1952) and Medic (1955), she retired from the film business as an actress.

She later settled in Oroville , California and was so involved in the city's public and social life that she was nicknamed "Mrs. Oroville ”received. During this time she also worked as a casting director for film projects in the region.

Marilyn Nash, who was in a relationship with screenwriter and film producer Philip Yordan , most recently gave television interviews for the documentaries Chaplin Today: Monsieur Verdoux (2003) and Spine Tingler! The William Castle Story (2007). In the book Sci-Fi Swarm and Horror Horde (2010) by Tom Weaver, she finally reported about the beginning of her career and the shooting of the film Unknown World .
