Ben Hansbrough (born December 23, 1987 in Poplar Bluff , Missouri ) is an American basketball player . He is the younger brother of NBA player Tyler Hansbrough .
Career
The 6-foot backcourt player Hansbrough played for the college teams at Mississippi State University and the University of Notre Dame . In his senior year of college, he was voted Player of the Year in the Big East Conference , but was not recruited by any team in the subsequent 2011 NBA draft .
Therefore, Hansbrough went to Europe in the summer of 2011 and joined the Bundesliga promoted Bayern Munich . Having come to Germany with a lot of praise, he was unable to adapt to the systematic guidelines of coach Dirk Bauermann on the field, which is why his contract was terminated at the end of December 2011 and he became the reigning EuroChallenge winner KK Krka from Novo mesto, Slovenia changed. But even here he did not find the role he wanted, and after a few weeks it was agreed to terminate the contract.
In the summer of 2012 he played for the Indiana Pacers team in the Summer League. There he was able to convince the board of the NBA team and played in the following season with his brother, Tyler, in the same team. However, he was rarely used and moved the following year to the Spanish club CB Gran Canaria . For the 2014/2015 season, Hansbrough returned to the USA and switched to the NBA Development League . Via Entry Draft , he was assigned to Grand Rapids Drive . At the end of the year, however, he went back to the Spanish ACB league , where he replaced the migrated Lamont Hamilton , Thomas Heurtel and Saša Vujačić at the financially troubled traditional Basque club Saski Laboral Kutxa together with his compatriot Darius Adams . Here he will also play for the first time in the top European club competition ULEB Euroleague 2014/15 .
