Andrew Tyler Hansbrough (born November 3, 1985 in Poplar Bluff , Missouri) is an American basketball player who last played for the Charlotte Hornets . Hansbrough finished a college basketball career on the Men's Basketball Team (North Carolina Tar Heels) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009 and was promoted to the NBA by the Indiana Pacers with the 13th pick of the 1st round of the NBA Draft drafted in 2009 .

Career

Hansbrough was unanimously elected to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Conference Team in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. He was ACC Freshman of the Year in 2006 and ACC Player of the Year in 2008. Due to his success in college basketball, his jersey number # 50 has not been awarded by the Tar Heels in his honor since February 10, 2010.

Hansbrough began his career with the Pacers, where he was an integral part of the rotation for four years. In the summer of 2013 he moved within the league to the Toronto Raptors , where he was used as a bench player for two years. In summer 2015 he switched to the Charlotte Hornets . He played one season with the Hornets, but saw hardly any playing time in the overloaded front court of the Hornets, so that he was without a contract for the 2016/17 season. He then moved to the NBA farm league D-League to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants to recommend himself for an NBA team.

Personal

His younger brother Ben Hansbrough (* 1987, College: University of Notre Dame ) also played for the Indiana Pacers for a while.
