Marin Sorescu

Marin Sorescu (born February 29, 1936 in Bulzeşti ; † December 8, 1996 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian poet , playwright and writer . He is considered one of the most famous Romanian authors of the late 20th century.

biography

Marin Sorescu grew up in a farming family in Oltenia . He spent primary school in the village. Then he went to a high school in Craiova . In 1960 he studied philology at the University of Iași .

After completing his studies, he began to work as a literary critic in various magazines. Finally he started to write himself.

In 1964 he published his first work "Singur printre poeți" (alone among poets) and achieved his breakthrough.

Until his death he published numerous dramas and poetry albums. His works have been translated into over 20 languages.

In 1996 he died of a heart attack in Bucharest.
