Marina Alta is a comarca (district) in the province of Alicante in the Valencia region of Spain. The capital is Denia .
location
Marina Alta is located in the very north of the Alicante province on the Costa Blanca . Both the sea and the mountains shape the landscape. There are numerous rocks, hills and stones. The best known is the Peñón de Ifach in Calpe, but there are also other rocks such as the Cabo de San Antonio , the Cabo de San Martín and the Cabo de la Nao . The most famous mountain ranges include the Sierra de Bernia and the Montgó .
Economy
The traditional economic branches, agriculture and fishing , are still very important in the comarca. Nevertheless, it is increasingly geared towards tourism , as it has been booming all over the Costa Blanca since the 1960s .
