Marina Olegowna Sujewa ( Russian Марина Олеговна Зуева ; born April 9, 1956 in Moscow ) is a former Soviet ice dancer and today's ice dance trainer.

Career

Together with her Eistanzpartner Andrei Witman Sujewa was 1977 Fifth in the World and European Championships and 1978 European Championship Sixth and WM-Seventh .

In the late 1970s, Sujewa ended her competitive career and started training as a choreographer . For her thesis at the National Theater in Moscow she choreographed a program for Jekaterina Gordejewa and Sergei Grinkow . She continued to choreograph for the ice dancing couple throughout the 1980s, including when they returned to the 1994 Olympics.

In 1991, Sujewa left Russia for North America. She works as a trainer and choreographer at the Arctic Figure Skating Club in Canton, Michigan . From 2001 to 2012 she worked successfully in this role with Igor Schpilband .

Sujewa's students include Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir , Meryl Davis & Charlie White , Tanith Belbin & Benjamin Agosto , Maia Shibutani & Alex Shibutani , Emily Samuelson & Evan Bates, Madison Chock & Greg Zuerlein , Sasha Cohen , Yukari Nakano , and Jana Chochlowa , whose current partner is Suieva's son, Fyodor Andreyev .

At the 2011 World Championships in Moscow , Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir , Meryl Davis & Charlie White and Maia Shibutani & Alex Shibutani, three ice dance couples trained by Schpilband and Sujewa in Detroit, landed on the podium.
