Marinus van der Maarel
Marinus van der Maarel (born September 1, 1857 in The Hague ; † March 17, 1921 there ) was a Dutch painter , graphic artist , etcher and draftsman .
life and work
Marinus van der Maarel studied at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague with Antonie Franciscus Dona (1802–1877) and then with Willem Maris and Johan Michaël Schmidt Crans (1830–1907).
He lived and worked in The Hague, then from 1901 in Amsterdam and later again in The Hague.
He painted, drew and etched still lifes, portraits and genre scenes. In 1897 he received the royal prize for free painting.
Marinus van der Maarel was a member of " Arti et Amicitiae " in Amsterdam.
He took part in exhibitions in Amsterdam, The Hague and other cities.
