Mario Holek (born October 28, 1986 in Brno ) is a Czech football player . The midfielder began his career at 1. FC Brno and has been under contract with the top Czech club Sparta Prague since January 2012 .

Career

Holek was accepted into the professional squad of 1. FC Brno in early 2005. In the Gambrinus League he made his debut on April 10, 2005 in the game against Slovan Liberec and was henceforth a regular player. His first goal in the first division he scored almost a year later on April 9, 2006 against Sigma Olomouc , saving his team a point. In January 2008, the midfielder moved to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the Ukrainian league. According to media reports, the transfer fee was over 50 million kronor, the equivalent of almost two million euros.

In January Holek moved to Sparta Prague .

Holek made his international debut on November 18, 2009 in the 2-0 defeat against Azerbaijan .
