Mario Mariotti
Mario Mariotti (born September 18, 1940 in Andorra ; † April 3, 2019 in Morges ) was a Swiss table tennis player and trainer. He was a two-time national champion and participated in two world championships .
Career
Mario Mariotti came from Andorra, but settled in Geneva , where he was active in the CTT Silver Star Genève association and has served as president since 2005.
In 1971 he took part in the Swiss National Championships for the first time, which was made possible by a change in the Swiss regulations. He immediately won this championship in singles. In 1976 he repeated this success. Several times he was Swiss team champion with the club CTT Silver Star Genève, around 1971 and 1982.
He represented Switzerland at the World Championships in 1959 and 1963 , but never came close to medals.
In 1966 he became national coach in Switzerland.
