Mario Ruben (born May 5, 1968 in Rudolstadt , in what is now Thuringia ) is a German chemist and university professor. Since 2013 he has been Professor and Director of “Molecular Materials” at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and at the Université de Strasbourg .

Life

After graduating from the Gymnasium Fridericianum (then Extended Oberschule) in Rudolstadt, he studied chemistry at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena from 1989 to 1994 . With a scholarship of the study donation of the German people , he wrote in 1998 his dissertation at the University of Jena in the research group of Dirk Walther with a thesis on CO 2 - activation and transformation. In 1998 he spent two years as a DAAD scholarship holder at the Université de Strasbourg in the working group of Nobel Prize winner Jean-Marie Lehn , where he completed his habilitation in 2005 with a thesis on ( Supra) Molecular Functional Nanostructures . His current research is concerned with the development of spintronic components based on molecules.

In 2012 he was offered a position at the physics faculty at the University of Münster . In 2013 he became a full professor at the chemical-biological faculty of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He has published around 250 scientific articles in refereed scientific journals.
