Marion Ascherl

Marion Ascherl (* 1961 or 1962 ) is a German designer .

Life

Marion Ascherl grew up in a family of craftsmen in rural Rechberghausen ( Baden-Württemberg ) and did an apprenticeship as a tailor before studying industrial design at what is now the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Design . The designer sees herself in the tradition of the Ulm School of Design and the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Design, in which functionality, feasibility and coherent conception are valued higher than formal trends.

Marion Ascherl lives with the designer Hubert Minsch and their daughters in Schwäbisch Gmünd .

Awards

After graduating in 1988, Ascherl was the winner of the Mia Seger Prize , which is awarded annually by the Design Center Baden-Württemberg to promote remarkable design concepts . As one of the first prizewinners she was honored by the " Grand Dame " of German design herself.
