Marion Elias

Marion Elias (born August 20, 1960 in Vienna ) is an Austrian painter , graphic artist and philosopher .

life and work

Marion Elias studied painting and graphics from 1980 to 1985 at what was then the university, today the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Wolfgang Hutter, and from 2000 to 2003 completed a doctorate in philosophy there under Rudolf Burger . Since 1993 she has been teaching at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where she qualified as a professor in 2008 in the subject of art philosophy. She currently heads the Gender Art Laboratory at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

From 1982 Elias was able to present her artistic work in solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. She attracted special attention through her lectures and speeches, especially at exhibition openings in Austria and other European countries, where she critically engages with the contemporary art scene.
