Career

In 2001 Rosato won the “Herford Art Prize” with Jan Hoet's purchase of the work Fragment for the collection of the MARTA Herford Museum. In the same year she won the Special Merit Award of the "Canon Digital Creator Contest 2001" in Tokyo. She has been exhibiting at home and abroad since 2000. • 2003 Admission to the Association of Visual Artists (BBK-OWL)
  • 2005 Admission as a junior member to the Association of Freelance Photo Designers (BFF).

After graduating, Marisa Rosato worked mainly as a photo artist and film designer between 2000 and 2007. Thematically, your work was often based on the area of memory work. So did the installation “Fragment” with which she won the Herford Art Prize in 2001. As in Orson Wells' film "Citizen Kane", which is part of the installation, the installation deals with the meaning of things in our lives and with the reflections of common forms of media visualization of the past .

The theme of time and memory is also the theme of “Hybrid Interface”, which received a Special Merit Award from Canon in Tokyo that same year under the jury of Ryūichi Sakamoto. Digitized photographs lose their temporal definition. They become fragments with no temporal allocation. Linear time becomes simultaneous time. The perception of one's own existence remains fragmentary. The Mug Shot-like photographs create a new view of the tried and tested, which differs from the conventional perspective.

In her photographic works "Face" from 2003 to 2007, the artist shows us aesthetic ideas with defined content that are heavily influenced by advertising and pop culture. She showed her photo work at the Photokina and in the Kunsthalle Bielefeld.

In 2007 Rosato put her artistic focus on painting. Around 100 POP CHIMPS were created as a funny homage to the greats of pop. Through the portraits of subtle monkey portraits that bear the brand name POP CHIMPS, Rosato always transports what moves and speaks to her. In 2009 there was the Herford Brewery Art Prize and a glass edition with an edition of 90,000. "Funny, memorable and immediately identifiable", says Baumgarte (Galerie Samuelis Baumgarte), who formed the jury of the artist competition with Stefan Pyrek, Roland Nachtigäller (museum director MARTa Herford), Gerhard-Charles Rump (world columnist) and Catharina Cramer (Warsteiner) . In 2009 the Baby POP CHIMPS joined the already existing monkey series. As usual, the artist equips primates with attributes related to the cosmos of music, film and art. In this way, chimpanzees with strong outlines become the greats of contemporary pop culture they value. A statement in the spirit of the artist who says: "I am a fan and paint what I appreciate."

In 2012 the project "Pop Ahoi" was born. Sometimes antique canvases that Marisa Rosato unearths at flea markets or in antique shops meet the comic heroes of her own childhood at Pop Ahoi. Prints of comic scenes are embedded in original landscape images. The old screen becomes a film set that tells a new story. “I like the idea of taking something old and existing, changing it and transporting it into the present. Fortunately, art makes this alchemical game possible, ” says Rosato.
