Marius No. 1 (born December 28, 1969 ; bourgeois Marius Walczak ) is a German hip-hop DJ and producer from Hamburg . For many years he hosted the first hip-hop radio show in northern Germany for Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) .

Career

Marius No. 1 has been a DJ since 1987. The Hamburger Abendblatt describes him as a hip-hop representative from the very beginning. In 1987, at the age of 17, he took part in a DJ party organized by the NDR in Club Skyy on Spielbudenplatz on Reeperbahn in Hamburg-St. Pauli part. DJs from the Hamburg area were supposed to mix live for ten minutes each to prove their skills. Ruth Rockenschaub, the presenter of the program Soultrain from NDR, then put the then still underage Marius No. 1 in the following year his own broadcast on NDR, which was initially No. 1 Mixshow was called and ran for two hours once a month. In his follow-up show called Black Traxx , which was mixed live from vinyl records in hip-hop style throughout, there were some demo tracks and exclusive freestyles (including by hip-hop artists such as Looptroop , David P. , Eißfeldt and Samy Deluxe ). The exclusive contributions came not only from Europe, but also from the USA (including Visionaries, Phife Dawg , Arsonists). For many years, the show ran under the name Black Traxx every two weeks on Thursday evenings. After the program was postponed to a less attractive broadcast date into the night and renamed Raputation shortly after the responsible editor Klaus Wellershaus retired in 2003 , Marius No. 1 In 2004 he collaborated with the NDR with an edition moderated by his mother.

In February 1995, Backspin Hip Hop magazine dedicated the cover story of the third issue to him.

Marius No. 1 is also known for his work as a club DJ. Since 1987 he has been playing on Friday nights in Club Defcon 5 (this was the first regular hip-hop evening event in the city of Hamburg) in the rooms that later became known as the Molotov music club on Spielbudenplatz. Throughout Germany it is primarily through his work with the rapper Cora E. known. As producer and DJ he was responsible for the music for the releases Can you hear me? and responsible for only part of the culture on Buback phonograms. Although the collaboration between these two artists ended in 1995, Marius was No. 1 can be seen in the official video for the single Schlüsselkind (1996) by Cora E. in two scenes in a kind of cameo . He had a similar appearance in the official video for the song Please who? by DJ Stylewarz feat. Torch & D-Flame (2002). At the end of the 1990s, Marius No. 1 collaborated with various hip-hop artists and was able to contribute to some publications with his music and DJ skills.

Since 1998 Marius No. 1, the label Chiefrocker Records that the publication of CDs dispensed and on the distribution of records has specialized.

Since 2011 Marius is No. 1 is also active in the dubstep area under the pseudonym Dubius .
