Marius Weyers

Marius Weyers (born February 3, 1945 in Johannesburg ) is a South African actor. His best-known role is that of "Andrew Steyn" in The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980).

Life

Marius Weyers is probably the most famous actor in South Africa. He has appeared in over 100 theater productions and received eleven Best Actor awards, including that for his solo program REPORT TO to ACADEMY (Kafka), which has won international criticism awards and has been shown successfully in Edinburgh , Israel and Los Angeles . He is also the recipient of the Medal of Honor of the South African Academy of Art and Science for his services to the theater.

In his 25-year acting career, Marius has worked in numerous television productions and over 35 films. One of the most famous is the blockbuster The Gods Must Be Crazy , for which it received the Best Comedy Actor Award at the Charles Chaplin Film Festival in Switzerland.

Other international productions in which he has worked are: Richard Attenborough's Gandhi , Farewell to the King with Nick Nolte , Bhopa! starring Danny Glover (directed by Morgan Freeman ) and Red Dust with Hilary Swank . He made his international film debut in 1977 in On the Trail of the Tiger with Anthony Quinn .

He had a guest appearance in the series hit Golden Girls , in the 7th season (episode 175) of which he can be admired as Blanche's lover and thief Derek .
