Mariusz Strzałka (born March 27, 1959 in Wrocław ) is a Polish fencing trainer and former sword fencer of the FC Tauberbischofsheim . He finished second in the team competition, world champion and multiple Polish champion, as well as German champion in the individual competition .

Career

Mariusz Strzałka grew up in Wrocław and completed an apprenticeship as an electromechanic at the technical college there ( Technikum Mechaniczne ). From 1976 to 1986 he fought under Adam Medyński for the Academic Sports Association of the Technical University of Wrocław ( AZS Politechnika Wrocław ) and later also for the fencing club "Kolejarz" ( Wrocławski Klub Szermierczy "Kolejarz" ).

Strzałka made his international debut at the Junior World Championships in South Bend, where he finished 6th. A year later he was a member of the Polish team that took part in the Olympic Games in Moscow and won silver.

In 1988 he moved to Germany and switched to FC Tauberbischofsheim. In 1996 he took part again in the Olympic Games - this time for Germany . In the individual he reached the 8th place, in the team together with Arnd Schmitt and Elmar Borrmann the 4th place.

Strzałka is currently responsible for the women's epee discipline as a junior coach at the DFB.
