Marjan Šetinc

Marjan Šetinc (born May 15, 1949 in Brežice , Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian educational scientist, politician and ambassador of his country a. a. in London and Warsaw.

Life

After graduating from Atlantic College , an international school in Wales, Marjan Šetinc graduated from Ljubljana University in 1973 . He worked as a researcher at the Public Opinion Research Center of the Federation of Trade Unions of Slovenia from 1974 to 1980 and received his Masters in 1977 from the London School of Economics . He then worked at the Educational Research Institute in Ljubljana from 1980, where he was the founding editor of the International Journal for Theory and Research in Education .

From 1992 to 1996 Marjan Šetinc was a member of the national parliament in Slovenia for the Liberal Democratic Party of Slovenia . He chaired the Task Force on Cooperation with the UK Parliament and the Committee on European Union Affairs . He was then Ambassador of Slovenia to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland from 1997 to 2002 . Back in Slovenia, he was Ambassador and Head of the Department for International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2002 to 2006. From 2006 to 2009, he was then ambassador for multilateral economic organizations and Slovenia's accession to the OECD . He has been the Slovenian ambassador to Poland since July 31, 2009 .

Marjan Šetinc is married to Marta Šetinc and has a daughter and a son.
