Marjolein Elisabeth de Jong (born May 16, 1968 in Lekkerkerk , South Holland ) is a former Dutch volleyball player .

Career

De Jong played volleyball at VC Sneek until 1991 . With the Dutch national team , she was runner-up in Italy in 1991 . She then moved to the German Bundesliga for USC Münster , with which she became German champion in 1992 and won the European Cup Winners' Cup . With the national team, she finished sixth at the Olympic Games in Barcelona . In 1992/93, the outside attacker played for Bundesliga club CJD Feuerbach and in 1993/94 for French club VBC Riom , with whom she won the national championship. Then de Jong played in the Italian Serie A2 for Aster Roma . In 1995 she moved to AMVJ Amstelveen in her home country . With the national team she won the European Championship in 1995 in her own country and in 1996 she took part in the Olympic Games for the second time in Atlanta , where she finished fifth. In the 1996/97 season she played again in the Italian Serie A2 , this time in Alassio with Agnesi Volley Imperia .
